PLATFORM TENNIS HALL OF FAME INDUCTS
DAVID L. CHILDS, WILLIAM P. CHILDS
AND CHARLES E. VASOLL

Brother, what a night. It was March 5 at the Fox Meadow Tennis Club, the Founding Club of Platform Tennis. During the three days of competition, Men’s National Champions in ages 45+, 55+, 65+ and team total ages of 145+ were to be crowned. In the evening on Saturday, a Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held, along with food and beverages for the players and guests.

Bob Brown,
Chairman of the APTA Hall of Fame Committee,
was the master of ceremonies.

He introduced another member of the Committee,
Brook Kindred,
to make the first induction presentation,

to David and Bill Childs.

Following acceptance remarks from the honorees,
Bob Brown returned to the microphone
to add that there was an additional “surprise” inductee.

As the new members slipped on their green jackets, symbolic of their designation,
previously honored Hall of Famers who were present joined them,
Bob Brown, Steve Baird and Hank Irvine.

There are 60 members of the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame. Four were added this year. In addition to the three noted above, Patti Hogan was honored on February 9 at the Beacon Hill Tennis Club in Summit, New Jersey during the Women’s 40+ Championship.
