AD IN Women’s National Championship for age 70+. It was not too long ago that it would have been a “hard sell” to expect that the women players would admit their age and enter an event with a qualification of 70+. Times have changed and being proud to reach this milestone and still be active and strong playing the sport is an achievement to boost about.

AD OUT No minimum age in Men’s 95+ tournaments. The total age for the event is appropriate but it is not a “senior” event as billed if players under 45 years of age can participate.

AD IN Inductees to Platform Tennis Hall of Fame being notified of their selection and place of ceremony. It appears that this method has finally been determined to be the procedure. No more surprises.

AD IN Instruction article by Jeff Soffa titled “Develop a System for Holding Serve!” It’s amazing how many players begin to participate in our sport and can hit the ball well but fail to understand or obtain coaching on tactics. This is an excellent primer in the November issue of “Platform Tennis”.

AD OUT APTA Membership dues for Juniors. It’s “small change” in money for the APTA but a big difficulty to those who the conduct of a tournament. It should be eliminated in favor of a “family” membership for all APTA members.

AD IN Expansion of the opportunities for Junior players. The Viking Junior Tour is a great addition to the schedule and future of the sport. I understand that the APTA Board is considering two Junior Nationals, an Eastern and a Western with equal awards.

AD OUT Ripped and damaged cover of “Platform Tennis” magazine. Obviously a very small matter but every issue I have received has come torn. There must be a better way.
