MY SERVE
AD IN (+) DEUCE (=) AD OUT (-)

AD INExecutive Director Ann Sheedy’s column in Issue 3 of the Platform Tennis Magazine. I am very pleased to see that she is enjoying her “job”. If she can enjoy it, with all the pressure she had when thrown into it, even more enjoyment will come when everything settles down.

AD OUT ATPA membership requirement to play in the Viking Junior Tour. It is not the $15.00 but the administration time that it takes that makes this an onerous imposition on those conducting the event.

DEUCE News that the Board of Trustees of the Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, PA have declined an offer by the Platform Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame Foundation to construct courts and a building on their new campus. It could have been a special location but it lacked a real connection to the history and background of he sport.

AD OUTContinued lack of “outside” advertising in the magazine. Issue 3 does not have a single page of advertising beyond the sport. The additional revenue promised when the magazine was approved almost a decade ago, has never materialized.

DEUCE Prince purchase of Viking Athletics. While the sport will miss the “hands-on” business style of David Kjeldsen, a larger entry into the vendor field may have some benefits.

AD INNew web master for www.platformtennis.org. The expression, “Better late than never”, comes to mind.
