Foot Fault Tee

Gotta love the baby shower tee produced by Stamford Screenprinting of Greenville, Delaware, “My Mom Foot Faults”.

McBride House at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey is unlike any other paddle hut I have seen. First of all, it is not a “hut”. It is a multi-story facility with locker rooms, dining room, bar, fitness center, outdoor terrace, pro-shop, second floor viewing area with thirty feet of unobstructed glass that overlooks eight platform courts. In the race for bragging rights, this is one facility that will be hard to top.

USTA Tennis Center. The lease for the two courts recently erected at the USTA Billy Jean King Tennis Center is coming to an end so the courts are being taken down. Whitney Kraft, director of the tennis center, is hoping that things will get worked out so they will be resurrected in time for next season, this time in front of the indoor center to give them maximum exposure on a daily basis.

I had heard all the bragging over the years but had never witnessed the event firsthand. This year I finally decided to take the plunge and fly out to see Chicago’s men’s league play-off finals held at the Glen View Club. The rain held off on the Wednesday night following St Paddy’s Day. The temperature was perfect for viewing, maybe a tad bit warm for playing. The hamburgers and hotdogs were cooking on the grills and the beer was flowing from the keg. By my count there were over 300 spectators watching some of the finest paddle to be seen. Players from series 1 to 16 were there; from pros to first year players. When the matches were done, it was heard to tell who was more excited when they won.

Wilmington

I gave the Wilmington Women’s Paddle Open an ACE for the best tournament logo in Issue 6 Volume 5 but did not include a link for folks to check it out. Here is the logo.
